Uganda
Uganda is our most developed programme to date. We have projects in Mbale, Jinja, Kampala and Fort Portal. In some cases we are working in partnership with another charity; in others we have local volunteers, in our name, on the ground.
In Jinja we work with both local teachers through their committee, as well as with X-SUBA, a local charity. Our sexual health programme is strong in Jinja as we’re investing in the experience X-SUBA have through their networks. The current programme is around gender based violence, where we are using netball as a way of engaging the kids on these tough topics. They are consequently sharing their learning with our Kenya project, which helps our international projects be sustainable. |
Partnership with Kip Living On
We are delighted to share news of our fantastic partnership with Kip Living On, based in Mukono, Uganda. http://www.kipliving.org/
Kip Livin On Charity Foundation is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to using sports as a tool to promote health and wellness, impart knowledge, skills and awareness amongst the children and youth, looking after destitute, empowering women, preventing HIV/AIDS, drug de-addiction, and awareness about environment and hygiene.
We are working with them on the Dreamwork (Mukono) Netball Project, which was created to educate youth aged 8-25 on 'Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights' (SRHR) and to teach netball and life skills.
This recent report (attached) summarises the progress they have made already this year including conducting a survey on sexual health, to act as a benchmark. This will help us to better understand the impact of our project, and how we may need to make changes to make the most difference.
