This year, NDT has been fantastically represented with 2 volunteers winning regional awards and a third collecting her 400-hours of volunteering prize. They will all meet up at the carnival-themed celebration on Saturday 21st September.
Lauren Hindle – Young volunteer for the East Midlands
She is the co-founder of the East Midlands Youth Action Group (EMYAG) which aims to provide support to young netballers. She has had the honour of serving as both chair and secretary of the EMYAG. The EMYAG has played a key part in organising the regional Back 2 Netball tournaments along with regional County and Satellite academy tournaments. Lauren has also been an integral part in the success of the Loughborough Lightning Outreach Programme, being the first point of contact for aspiring netballers of all age groups.
Julie Smith – Mary Bulloch Administrator Award for Yorkshire
Julie is Chair of Fusion Netball Club in Leeds, and almost single-handedly keeps it up and running. It is a club with 4 senior squads and a recently formed junior section with 2 age groups (involving 85 affiliated players).
Julie Smith – Mary Bulloch Administrator Award for Yorkshire
Without Julie’s commitment and dedication, the club could not operate. She organises seniors, juniors, club and individual development, club CAPS and umpiring as well as her own commitments to the 2nd squad, being a coach and league umpire. She also volunteers for the Yorkshire Jets Superleague team, Netball Now sessions as well, of course, as NDT.
Sophie Lamont – Pass on your Passion Award
Sophie has volunteered 400 hours in netball and so achieves a huge accolade in the Pass on your Passion scheme.
The Pass on your Passion scheme encourages young volunteers to record their netball volunteering and receive prizes at various stages. The highest accolade is to record 400 hours in 2 years, which is an incredible achievement.
Sophie Lamont – Pass on your Passion Award
Sophie achieved her 400 hours in Oct 2012 by volunteering in her club, “Venners bakery netball club”. She coaches the U12, U14 and U16 on a Sunday, as well as umpiring in Senior North Devon netball league, as a C-qualified umpire. She didn’t stop there as she joined NDT and volunteered with us at the World Series in Oct 2010 and then came on our 2011 and 2012 India tours, where she has now become a regular, and very key member of the team.
Well done to all three of our volunteers…and good luck to Lauren and Jules at the national ceremony on Saturday 21st September to be held at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, West Midlands
